Update on Cultural Visit - Change of Venue Please note that the Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos will be closed for renovations in December. Participants who had registered for this visit will instead have the opportunity to tour the Estadio Víctor Jara, another significant site of memory in Chile. This guided visit will explore the life and legacy of Víctor Jara (1932–1973) — a Chilean folk singer, theatre director, and human-rights advocate whose work shaped the Nueva Canción Chilena. The stadium, used as a detention center after the 1973 coup, now serves as a space for education and remembrance, connecting Chile’s past to its ongoing democratic and human-rights journey. Participants will also engage in a conversation with the Fundación Víctor Jara and, when possible, view creative projects developed with children and youth through the Foundation’s arts-and-memory workshops. AccommodationIf you are looking to organize shared accommodation with other RECE attendees, the 'RECE Roommate Connections' document is available. Please note that this document is public; please share information accordingly. The 2025 Host Committee has secured conference rates at five local hotels. These rates apply until February 2026. To book a room at discounted rates as part of a special agreement with Universidad Alberto Hurtado, bookings must be made by email.
TravelArriving in Santiago Santiago is served by a single international airport: Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL). Official transportation from the airport to the city is available and can be arranged through this link: Official Airport Transportation. We strongly recommend using official transport services for safety and reliability. Getting Around the City Santiago's public transport system is called RED Movilidad, which includes both metro and buses. To take a bus or metro you will need a BIP card. The card can be top up at any metro stations. The most convenient and secure way to move around the city is via the Santiago Metro. To plan your metro journey, please visit the Metro Journey Planner.
